So I’ve been lurking around the Ink Monster lair for well over a year now, doing shady things in the shadows. Finally, I’m ready to enter the light and introduce myself! I’m Lola Dodge, a sort of nomad/writer/hermit who obsesses over food and anime (but you know most of that from my bio on the site). For now, I’m the resident editorial helper and I have my little thumbs in all the Inky worlds. You’ll be hearing from me a lot more going forward, so I figured I’d ease you into my antics with a few soul-searching questions courtesy of Tumblr. I started with 100 or so and whittled the list down to ten that aren’t totally ridiculous, because I’m way too old to tell you who my crush is and if I’ve ever been drunk (But for posterity, frequently and his name ends in Hemsworth).
1. What is your next big purchase?
I’m in love with tiny houses, which don’t seem so tiny compared with my last apartment. I really want to buy one on a trailer, then drive it around the U.S. parking on my friends’ lawns. Heads up to Aileen—I’m gonna need your yard space.
2. Tea or coffee?
Coffee tastes like burnt tires. I’ll take delicious leaf water any day.
3. Put your iTunes on shuffle. What are the first three songs?
No Strings Attached—N’Sync
Somewhere Only We Know—Keane
双月之夜 (Two Moons)—EXO-M
4. Are you excited about anything?
I’m thrilled about the projects I have going on these days, both with Ink Monster and independently—so many story worlds captivating my attention. Mostly I’m excited to be at a place in my life where I can finally devote my time to writing (and world domination on the weekends).
5. Five most delicious foods?
Paneer makhani. I will walk over cut glass for a good curry.
Paneer so good it makes a grown man cry.
Su rou fan (素肉飯)—a mushroomy vegetarian version of the traditional Taiwanese braised pork over rice. My fav when I lived in Taipei.
Penne alla vodka. The pasta of the gods.
Nachos. With extra beans, cheeses, and jalapeños, please!
Rice Krispie treats. Always a classic, always delicious.
6. Grab the nearest book and turn to page 23, line 17.
From my ARC of Jen Brooks’ In A World Just Right:
The bell rings. I’m about to find out.
7. Do you have any obsessions right now?
Gekkan Shoju Nozaki-kun. Best rom-com anime I’ve stumbled on in a long time.
8. Favorite pizza toppings?
These are the hard-hitting questions, people. My favorite combo is red peppers and pineapple (but not if I’m sharing with Aileen—don’t want to trigger the pineapple allergy).
9. What are you really bad at?
Directions. Especially when driving, but I’m pretty talented at getting lost on foot too. I was in Hong Kong a few months ago and had no idea where I was 90% of the time. Now I’ve gotten to the point where being lost doesn’t stress me out, so it makes for great adventures (plus I’ve always found my way home so far).
10. You just won a free plane ticket, but you have to depart right now. Where will you go?
Japan. Kyoto, Sapporo, and Tokyo, plus the obscure outlying islands (including that bunny island everyone talks about). I’ve been around a lot of Asia, but I’ve only seen Japan from the airport, and this a huge problem. I’m hoping I can fix that soon!
